Every summer, my husband’s family gathers together at a cabin up north. It has been unofficially dubbed “Leave it at the Lake,” because when you go, you don’t want to give it your all and have a great time! Well, we most certainly did! After the icky weather on our arrival day, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We couldn’t have asked for better! The different activities were water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, swimming, jumping on the trampoline, playing cards, and of course, just plain old relaxing on the hammock. It is such a beautiful time when we head up there. And this year, we were able to bring Nicholas with us! This year was a special year as well… it was the first year everyone in my husband’s immediate family could make it. It was definitely a memorable year!
I was taking this as an opportunity to try out my 28-300 lens that I got for times such as this. I don’t want to break any of my $1,000+ lenses or anything 🙂 Here is a picture of my son on the trampoline being held by my husband.
I also used this opportunity as a time to try out some unique and fun shots.

So, the 2nd night we were there, this is what the sky looked like as we were finishing up some last minute skiing. It’s an unbelievable picture, but I think I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. It was amazing how fast the sky changed in just a matter of minutes. Sunset and sunrise are two fascinating times to take pictures.
Some fun wakeboarding & skiing shots. It was really fun to see everyone’s intense looks on their faces. 🙂
Here is a really neat picture of my husband’s niece Madelyn. The boat was going and her hair was whipping all over the place. She happened to catch my eye when the camera is pointed at her. It turned out to be a picture I will probably end up posting on my website!
Here are a couple of shots of my husband wakeboarding and water skiing. The first one here is so cool! When he was getting situated in the water for another wakeboard run, a loon popped up about 50 feet away from him!
Here is the look you get on your face right before you are about to face plant 🙂
He dropped a ski and actually did very well slaloming!
Finally, one big family picture taken by my camera on timer. I can’t wait for next year’s trip!
