Ok, before I begin, I hate to admit the fact that was so rusty! I didn’t think I would be, but not having a wedding in the past 7 months and then having one is hard. 🙂 Besides, I had all new equipment that I had to get accustomed to using. Thank goodness the pictures still turned out great! So, as it turns out, Jess & Aleks went to the same college I did… St. Ben’s & St. John’s. I had absolutely no clue I was walking into a Bennie/Johnnie wedding! Jess was a couple of years younger than me and knew my brother, and Aleks was just a year younger than me and knew my sister-in-law. I had my suspicions when I was reading the questionnaire I have couples fill out prior to the wedding. They got engaged on their way to a chapel about 2 miles away from the main campus. There’s the infamous “chapel walk” at CSB/SJU, which I figured was the same chapel they were talking about. Setting aside all of these fun coincidences, Jess & Aleks were an awesome couple to work with. Their whole day was making sure that their guests were taken care of and having a good time. I wish them the best in their new life together!!
Oh yeah, the rain sucked!! But, we made the best of it 🙂
The wedding & reception was held at the St. Paul College Club on Summit Avenue.
This was something I’ve never seen before at a wedding. They did a “wine ceremony” where they both drank from the same glass of wine that they poured together. The glass had a special engraving on it that said, “Health, Family, Happiness.”
I love this picture of them both looking at their rings right after the wedding. It’s priceless!
These were my first shots of a bride & groom & their wedding party outside in the rain. We weren’t out there for too long, but I think we got some fun shots!
This was in the little bathroom in the girls dressing room. 🙂
I believe they made their own wine and wine bottle labels for all of the guests. I thought that was such a unique idea!
They had people get up and sing a song with the word “love” in it or show them how to kiss a significant other to get the bride & groom to kiss. Here are a few of the fun shots of people singing or kissing 🙂
And, there we have it, folks!
They had a couple of caricaturists there to do drawings of the guests in lieu of a photobooth. The bride & groom get the originals and then they will get the guest’s copies to them after the wedding. Isn’t that a fun idea?!
The dance floor was packed with people!
I love the look on her face 🙂
[…] shoot was a surprise for him as they welcome their first baby. I had the honor of working with Aleks & Jess last June for their wedding day. On that wonderful day in June, it rained, all day long. They […]
